Being a bride involves a lot of thoughtful planning and attention to detail, especially for the little things like your mani and pedi just before the big day.
Meet Zuzana, a nail designer and artist from Slovakia. Prettily inked and proudly vegan, Zuzana’s leaves every off-beat bride in good hands, and feet!
Hi Zuzana! Tell us more about yourself
I’m 32 , originally from Bratislava Slovakia, but I live in Zahorska Bystrica now, which is not far off. I moved to build a house thats big enough for me and my many pets I studied economy only because the school nearest to my old home had courses in German, which i’ve spoken all my life, even more than Slovak. My real interest, however, has always been nail design.
What inspired you to become a nail designer? I love nails! It’s the first thing I notice on every person I meet, whether on the bus or street. I opened a nail studio which also offerred spray-tan and waxing services. I ran the studio for the best 2 years of my life, but because it is difficult for small businesses to thrive in Slovakia, I switched to working on a freelance basis.
How do your clients react to your tattoos?
I love tattoos and I’ve never really faced any problems with them at my work, or in Slovakia in general. All my clients like my tattoos and even old people on the street tell me how beautiful they are. I guess I only have good experience with people when it comes to my ink.
Let’s talk about your vegan design and inspired tattoos
I have a wonderful long vegan poem tattooed on my left arm which everyone wants to read It’s cool because then I get talk about veganism with them and explain how very important it is to be a vegan today, not only for the animals or your personal health, but for the enviroment and health of our whole planet.
Tell us more bout your pets.
I used to save stray cats and dogs. I have 5 cats at home which were strays when they were kittens. I have a 15-year-old dog, Peggy, and two dogs from a shelter who were rescued from a puppy mill. They were kept in a cage in a dark basement their whole lives, so they are very happy to live with me now. I’m building the house for them with a big garden so they can play all the time.
