I caught up with Daniela for a bit when she modelled a wedding dress for Inked&Hitched, and she spoke about her ink, her travels and her dog Fidel.
Tell us more about you.
I’m 27 and was born in Bratislava, Slovakia. I grew up there but I live in Gibraltar, Spain now. I have been single for almost 2 years now, never been married, and the only kid I have is my dog Fidel,a German boxer. One of my hobbies involves special rescue training with Fidel. I a volunteer with a rescue group that specializes in searching for people lost in the rubble after an earthquakes, or j children who are missing. My other hobbies include swimming, water polo longboarding. i speak three languages, English, Slovak and German.
What was your first tattoo and why did you get it? Which is your current favourite?
My first tattoo was my a side piece – poison ivy with different names on the leaves. I grew up in a house surrounded by poison ivy and during the fall it changed colors, so the tattoo has leaves of different colors too. In each of them is a name of a loved one who has made an impact in my life. Theres a red one for my Gran who died in 2006, with the date of her death. I got this tattoo in October of 2010. My current favourite is my back piece – a pirate style world map by Samuel Mudohori, but it is yet to be finished.
What are your best memories?
My best memories are from my time I spent living in Sardinia Island in Italy for 6 months in 2012. I had really cool boyfriend, Giovanni, and I had the time of my life (so far).
Your dreams? Aspirations?
I would like to stay in Spain/Gibraltar and get a job, save some money and start my own thing. I write a lot, usually stories and I would like to publish them one day. I would also love make longboards for skate and surf and maybe have my own brand one day.
How did you overcome your darkest hours? What advice you would give someone who may be going thru the same thing?
My darkest moments were in 2011 when I had no job and my mother stopped speaking to me. I sold my apartment and paid my debts ,and in 2012 I moved to Italy. It all turned out well. People should just not give up and work hard to get what they want because no one gets what they want by doing nothing to achieve it.
Any future body art plans?
I want to have my back piece finished next year and then I have a couple of other designs to be done. I want another sleeve on my right arm but thats the sound of the future right now. Check out Daniela rocking a wedding dress in her photoshoot.
