The second installation of Tattoo Wars Bratislava in 2014 was attended by 56 tattoo artists from 35 different studios, many who came all the way from England, Austria, Czech Republic and Slovakia. There were big names and legends such as Richard Padúch, David Klvač, but also J.J., who was here for the first time.
Bratislava also welcomed Samuel Potúček, who won a 2nd place in Milan, as well as Axli, last year’s winner of the Berlin tattoo show, and perhaps one of the most awarded tattoo artists out there today – Špendlo from Mefisto tattoo. Talented tattoo artists like Ivana Belaková, whose style is bowling everybody over at the moment, also attended. Bobek Tattoo, Origin tattoo came too, as did Daniel Dubay, Sharuzen and Petr Hlavačka from Deep Art.
All tattoo artists were hosted by Rooster tattoo studio. The whole show was put together by tattoo artists for tattoo artists and so the focus was primarily on tattoo art as such. A juggler called Slížo kept everyone entertained and there were performances from Dan Victorio band and Silent trio. Art fusion was taken over by street artists, as well as the professional designer jackpot clothing Robčo Frog. A tattoo contest crowned the whole event with “Battle” being the most intriguing category. The theme here was tattooing without a premeditated design to “I’m your father”, the famous sentence from the legendary STAR WARS, which was the theme of the whole event.
It was not only the tattoo artists who were present; there were also Stormtroopers, Empire pilots, as well as Darth Vader who gave out the awards to the winners. Darth Maul was also present throughout, too – the tattoo artist Daksi from Our future studio was hiding behind this mask (he also won the top award in the Black and White tattoo category with the portrait of Darth Maul):D
Baran City Ink won the best Colour award, and both the “Realistic” as well as the “Best of Show” awards went to Peter Škriba of 5o tattoo, who also won the top award of the show – the best stand for the next TATTOOFEST KRAKOW 2015.
For a long time, Bratislava had been a bit cursed when it came to tattoo shows, but let’s hope that we will all meet at TATTOO WARS 2015 where a new tradition can be created.
